Editor s Notes: We re back - Winona Post > Article

(2/24/2021)   It feels good to be back, here in print, at 22,000 households across Winona, Trempealeau, and Buffalo counties. We made the difficult decision to cancel last week’s print edition of the Winona Post after two of our production staff tested positive for COVID. I’m grateful they’re doing alright and recovering at home per health department guidelines, that the rest of our staff is healthy, and, despite being a bit shorthanded, our dedicated crew worked overtime to get this edition safely to you. We want to thank all of you for your well wishes and for bearing with us.

By Kevin “K5” Michels, edited by Stephen Chapis Texas Raiders, Kevin “K5” Michels recently submitted another excellent article that detailed the history behind the famous one-wheel pass performed by  Texas Raiders at air shows across the country. Donning his distinctive flat-brim straw hat, an otherwise non-descript elderly man would leave his home for a daily 5-mile walk, telling his beloved wife that he was “going out to chase girls”.  He would return four hours later.  Not because he was slow, but because the gregarious extrovert socialized with literally everyone along the way.  Known to all as “the Colonel”, he was a pillar of society in this seaside community of San Clemente, California.

Nancy Jo Cecil (n*e Wiltshire)

Nancy Jo Cecil (née Wiltshire) passed away on January 26th, 2021 at home, surrounded by family and her beloved dog, Sammy. Nancy was born in Hanford, California on June 17th, 1946 to Raymond and Betty Jo Wiltshire. After Betty Jo s passing, Ray married Wynne Williams, eventually bringing three brothers and one special sister into her life. In 1976, Nancy married Tom Cecil, finding the family she always wanted with Toms four children. Nancy was a 1964 graduate of Hanford High School and a 1968 graduate of the University of the Pacific, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work. After working in Hanford as a social worker, Nancy took the opportunity to work in a childrens home in Scotland. After two years abroad, she returned to Hanford, where, over the course of the next fifty years, she worked for Kings County Probation and Social Services and volunteered for CASA of Kings County and other such local organizations, continually working for the betterment and benefit of Ki
