Mumbai: Maha Movie channel s CEO held for copyright violation
Mumbai: The Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Mumbai crime branch arrested Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maha Movie television channel in connection with an alleged copyright violation case on Tuesday.
According to the police, during the investigation, CEO Sanjay Verma s alleged role came to light. He was questioned by the police, however, he could not give satisfactory answers after which he was placed under arrest, said police. Verma is also a wanted accused in Televison Rating Points (TRP) manipulation case. According to the police, Puneet Mehra, son of late film-maker Prakash Mehra, filed a complaint of copyright violations with Juhu police station last year.

Mumbai: The National Student Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress, has filed a complaint against Republic TV s Arnab Goswami in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur in connection with the leaked WhatsApp conversations between the Republic TV editor-in-chief and former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) CEO Partho Dasgupta.
The Opposition parties, including, Congress, Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party have raised their concern against the alleged WhatsAPP chats between Goswami and Dasgupta demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe.

NEW DELHI: Former BARC India CEO Partho Dasgupta has been admitted to JJ Hospital after his sugar level fell extremely low. He is in the ICU now.
The development comes after the Mumbai police released over 500 pages of WhatsApp messages purportedly between Dasgupta and Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, in which they allegedly discussed confidential TRP data and intervention from political leadership in industry matters.
Dasgupta has been in judicial custody after he was denied bail in the TRP manipulation case. Police has claimed the former BARC chief was the mastermind behind the TRP scam. He has been charged for conniving with Goswami in manipulating viewership ratings for wrongful gains.
