Construction of collector drain: Lagos to shut Opebi Road for 2 consecutive weekends

The Lagos State Government has concluded plans to partially close Opebi Road for the next stage of construction of the collector drain that will deflood the corridor for two weekends.
The construction is expected to commence from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 of April and Friday, April 30, to Sunday, May 2, 2021.
In a statement by the Ministry of Transportation, the Commissioner, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, explained that the next phase which has been indicated as the final stage by the contractor would require the introduction of Box Culvert across Opebi road by Chrisland School.

This event will be hosted via Zoom on Wednesday, March 3 at noon and 5:30 p.m. Both sessions will provide the same information and are an opportunity for the public to meet with project staff, ask questions and provide feedback.
Attendees can expect a one-hour webinar-style event with a presentation from representatives of both MDT and engineering consultant, Sanderson Stewart, according to a press release. This will be followed by a question-and-answer session, as well as an opportunity to provide comments.

Some 5,405 persons, as of last week Friday, December 4, were employed in this year’ Christmas Road Cleaning Programme set for completion in seven days.
The complement of workers included 450 gangs and 905 jobbers. In addition, over 100 truckers were expected to be employed.
All of this was disclosed in a release from Roads, Buildings and General Services Authority (BRAGSA), which is responsible for conducting the Programme.
Mr. Rohan Cupid, Communications Officer of BRAGSA, says the gangs will be out from 7 a.m in every district across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
