Organisers of the Isle of Wight Story Festival have been visiting Island primary schools over the past few weeks, in a covid-safe way, donating books to school libraries.

Peta is hoping that her picture book will help raise awareness of the issue of plastics in the ocean
Isle of Wight children’s author and illustrator, Peta Rainford, hopes that her latest rhyming picture book,
Crab, Dab & Blenny, which is published next week (4th May), will not only be a big hit with her four-to-eight-year-old market, but will raise awareness of the issue of plastics in the ocean.
Although the location isn’t explicit in the story,
Crab, Dab & Blenny is inspired by the rockpools of the Isle of Wight in general, and St Helens in particular.

Isle Of Wight Story Festival Proves Worldwide Success

This year s Isle of Wight Story Festival attracted hundreds of people from across the world - including as far as the Netherlands, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago and the USA.
Over the four days, the festival – which mixed pre-recorded, with live-streamed YouTube sessions – attracted 2,853 views from 855 different devices.
But if you didn’t manage to catch it live, the good news is that all sessions will remain on the IW Story Festival’s YouTube channel, at least until Saturday (27).

The Isle of Wight Story Festival returns for its second year today (Wednesday) - and this time it s heading online.
Former CBeebies presenter and children’s writer, Cerrie Burnell, is among those taking part in the free event.
It starts at 10am today with a live session by its patron, Nicholas Allan - author and illustrator of numerous bestselling picture books, including The Queen’s Knickers.
