A Toledo contractor is paving a portion of Jackman Rd. in Bedford Township this week, the Monroe County Road Commission has announced.
A crew for Gerken Paving will add an overlay of asphalt to Jackman between the Michigan-Ohio line to south of Smith Rd., said Joy Bagnall from the maintenance division at the road commission. Traffic regulators will maintain one-lane, two-way traffic on Jackman during the resurfacing operation. All work is weather permitting, Bagnall said.

Police & Fire: Pizza delivery driver robbed
ARMED ROBBERY: Calhoun County Sheriff Department deputies are looking for at least two young men accused of robbing a pizza delivery driver in Springfield on Sunday. Deputies reported the robbery at 10:07 p.m. in the 800 block of Tecumseh Road about two blocks west of Dickman Road. The driver had just made a delivery and was pulling out of an apartment complex parking lot and said he stopped when a young man stepped into the roadway in front of his car and a second man opened the passenger door of the driver s vehicle and pointed a handgun at him. The robber demanded money and took the driver s car keys before both men fled north from the scene with two or three others. Deputies said the robbers obtained a small amount of cash and dropped the driver s keys inside the car. Deputies and officers from the Battle Creek Police Department searched the area but the robbers were not located. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff s d
