EDMONTON - The lawyer for an Ontario truck driver who killed a woman in his Edmonton hotel room a decade ago is asking that his client be sentenced to about half the time called for by the Crown.
Dino Bottos told court Tuesday that Bradley Barton, 53, should be sentenced to no more than nine years in prison for the manslaughter of Cindy Gladue, a 36-year-old Métis and Cree woman.

The Ontario truck driver convicted of killing an Indigenous mother of three in an Edmonton hotel room nearly a decade ago has failed in his bid for a mistrial.
In a decision delivered Friday afternoon, Justice Stephen Hillier dismissed Bradley Barton’s attempt to vacate his February conviction for manslaughter for his role in the death of Cindy Gladue.

Gladue, 36, died in Barton’s hotel room June 22, 2011. She suffered a tear to her vaginal wall and bled to death in a bathtub.
