Benjamin Boykins, 34, admitted to killing Tanika Kirkpatrick in November 2020. According to the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office, Boykins told investigators that while he was at Kirkpatrick’s house, he found pictures on her cellphone of her with other men. He became enraged and strangled the 43-year-old Lansdowne mother to death.

Benjamin Boykins, 34, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder during what was scheduled to be his arraignment in county court, according to prosecutors. He was sentenced immediately by Delaware County Court Judge Margaret Amoroso. Boykins was arrested in February after admitting to detectives that he choked Tanika Kirkpatrick to death in November at her Lansdowne apartment. He told investigators he became angry with her after asking to borrow her cellphone and seeing that she had been texting other men, according to the affidavit of probable cause for his arrest.

Angry that his ex-girlfriend was dating other men, a North Philadelphia man choked her to death and hid her body in a trash can, Delaware County authorities said Wednesday. Benjamin Boykins, 34, was arrested late Tuesday and charged with first-, second- and third-degree murder, kidnapping, abuse of a corpse and related offenses in the death of Tanika Kirkpatrick. He remained in custody in Delaware County, denied bail. There was no indication he had hired an attorney.
