When Mary Lewin accidentally backed into a parked car as she left a Sharpsburg business on Aug. 3, 2018, she thought she did the responsible thing. She wrote out her contact information and left a note on the vehicle’s windshield. She also waited 15 minutes to see if anyone returned to the parked car, which had minor damage from the accident. When no one returned, Lewin left, but subsequently was contacted by the vehicle’s owner. Lewin provided her insurance information, and her carrier provided coverage for the damage.

Two months later, investigation into teenage stabbing victim continues Saturday marks two months since a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in Palm Springs, and a man wanted for questioning in the case is still being sought by police. James Bernard of Twentynine Palms was attacked about 4:15 a.m. Feb. 3 in the 300 block of South Palm Canyon Drive, near West Baristo Road. He died of his injuries six days later at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain unclear. Police have offered few details, other than to say previously that 31-year-old Benjamin Olsen of Desert Hot Springs was wanted as a person of interest in the case.

Updated on February 11, 2021 at 5:45 am Getty Images A 17-year-old boy who was stabbed in Palm Springs died at a hospital due to his injuries, police said Wednesday.  James Bernard of Twentynine Palms was pronounced dead at about 9 a.m. Tuesday at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, according to Riverside County Sheriff s Sgt. Brent Seacrest.  Bernard was stabbed at about 4:15 a.m. on Feb. 3 in the 300 block of South Palm Canyon Drive, near West Baristo Road, and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, according to the Palm Springs Police Department. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain unclear, although police were investigating it as a homicide.
