A draft Bill that was supposed to be a ‘game-changer’ for the
city, has been gathering dust for 11 months now, courtesy the government’s lack of interest. The draft Bangalore Metropolitan Land Transport Authority (BMLTA) Bill has not had a single meeting on it since Jan this year and sources say that officials have simply forgotten about it.
The draft Bill has four components. Most importantly, it clubs all
urban transport and planning agencies under one board for the seamless implementation of policies and programmes. Setting standards whether it is road designs of other policies, the authority will have a final say. The BMLTA to be chaired by Chief Minister of the state will also enjoy
