I m discussing it, will let you know..no decision has been taken yet., Yediyurappa told reporters in response to a question on extending the lockdown and announcing a package.

BENGALURU: On the intervening night of May 2 and 3, five-year-old Geeta (name changed) lost both her parents. They were among the 24 patients who died at the Chamarajanagar district hospital allegedly due to shortage of oxygen. But unlike many children who share her fate in the brutal second Covid wave, Geeta found the loving arms of family soon.
Her paternal aunt, who is childless, stepped in to adopt her. The wife of a marginal farmer, she said she had no second thoughts as she has been caring for Geeta for the past few weeks as the family grappled with the pandemic.
The daily death average for the state so far in May has been around 400; the number is 211 for Bengaluru. Never in the past 14 months has the daily average been so high for deaths. Between May 7 and 13, the state reported 3,500 deaths, a 107% increase from the 1,689 deaths between May 1 and 6. The toll was 1,448 between April 24 and 30.
Bengaluru saw 157% rise in deaths this week
The unprecedented spike in the past month or so is different. The system has been stretched to its limits. Last year, you heard of families not finding ambulances or beds only in the beginning when protocols were being put in place and there was stigma. This time, there’s a genuine problem,” an official said.
