KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd (KAB), an electrical and mechanical engineering services provider, has appointed Datuk Dr Ong Peng Su as its independent non-executive chairman, taking over from Yoong Kah Yin effective today.
In a statement today, the company said Ong graduated from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, with a First Class Honours BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He then pursued his Doctor of Philosophy in Power Systems and was subsequently awarded his PhD in 1982.
Ong brings to KAB more than 35 years of experience in the power industry.
Managing director Datuk Lai Keng Onn said Ong’s vision is in line with the group’s next phase of growth.

CANBERRA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) Researchers from Australia have developed sustainable superfoods from marine microalgae as alternative proteins to consume.
The team from Flinders University has revealed that it has cultivated plant-based meats, caviar, jelly, jams and spreads from lab-grown microalgae.
Senior researcher Kirsten Heimann said that the product has the potential to significantly reduce the carbon footprint associated with food while also having health benefits for consumers. Microalgae are really well equipped to clean up the mess we create, like absorb carbon dioxide, she said, according to the report from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on Thursday evening.
