The Liverpool FC Women’s team completed their first season in the FA Women’s Championship by finishing a disappointing third place. Previously week we took a look at some of the major story lines and standout performers from the year, and then dug into the goalkeepers and defensive units. This week, we’ll look at the progress this exiting, young midfield unit made over the season, as well as look ahead to next season.

The final day of FA Women’s Championship season saw Durham seal second place with seven goals against Coventry United.
Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Sheffield United
Crystal Palace 2-1 Lewes
Liverpool 2-2 London City Lionesses
Durham seal second spot
The game was only eight minutes old when the third goal was scored, Destiney Toussaint replying to efforts from Kathryn Hill and Molly Sharpe.
Beth Hepple’s brace made it 4-1 at half time, with Bridget Galloway, Ali Johnson and Abby Holmes adding second-half goals.
Liverpool Women Finish Season With A Disappointing 2-2 Draw
The Reds led 2-0 against London City, but gave up two goals in the second half in the final game of the FA Women’s Championship season

Liverpool came into their final game of the season sitting third in the table, three points ahead of Sheffield United. A win or a draw against London City would see the Reds finishing the year in third in a season they hoped to get promoted right back up to the Women’s Super League (not to be confused with the European Super League).
