What do you do when winter cold hits and a pandemic shuts down many ordinary indoor activities? You do what any hardy, resourceful Minnesotan would do: Build your own skating rink.
Several area residents have done just that, creating backyard and community gathering spaces where they can truly enjoy winter.
“We were uncertain if there was going to be any ice for us to skate on this winter,” said Travis Lang, who built a small rink with his two boys in the backyard of their home in Alexandria.
