James Patrick Tuma, 71, of rural Frazee, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a misdemeanor charge of reckless discharge of a firearm.
A felony charge of endangering safety by discharging a firearm was dropped in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on Nov. 28, 2019, he fired several shots that alarmed a neighbor across Highway 87. Tuma said he fired three shots into the air “to let (the neighbors) know he could shoot, too.”

Adam Michael Wolfswinkle, 22, of Lake Park, has been ordered to pay over $20,000 in restitution in Becker County District Court for an assault outside the Lake Park Liquor Store.
Wolfswinkel was sentenced April 28 for felony third-degree assault. A misdemeanor fifth-degree assault charge was dropped in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on Nov. 17, 2019, the victim told a Becker County deputy that he had been at the Lake Park Liquor Store the evening before, and had gotten into an argument with two men about vehicles. One came up to him, put his arm around his shoulders, and told him he should apologize to his friend.
Other felony cases handled in Becker County District Court include burglary and violent threats.

Christopher Cory Wiedeman, 39, of West Fargo, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony harassment.
According to court records, on Oct. 12, 2019, a Detroit Lakes police officer spoke to a woman who has an active 50-year harassment restraining order against Wiedeman, issued Oct. 22, 2014.
The woman told the officer that he had shown up at her apartment building and she buzzed him in, thinking it was a friend. Wiedeman said he wanted to talk to her, but she told him she was calling the police and slammed the door shut. Surveillance footage from the apartment building showed Wiedeman was there.

Jerry Anthony Crawford, 48, of rural Alexandria, has had his supervised probation extended one year on a felony check forgery charge from 2010.
According to court records, from September of 2009 through January of 2010, he took check blanks from several accounts belonging to the woman he lived with, and used them to write $8,905 in checks, mostly to himself.
