The suspect had entered the store with his face and head covered, claimed he had a gun, and handed the clerk a hand-written note that had the words “money” and “cigs” on it. The clerk gave the suspect over $300 from the two tills along with two packs of Newport cigarettes.
The defendant struck the man with his pickup truck, pinning him for about four seconds between the truck and the rear of a parked Ford Escape. Then he backed out of the driveway and took off on Highway 10.
He pushed his way in and took her phone away. She ran into the bathroom, crying, and he told her to stop crying or he would “stuff a knife in her throat,” according to the criminal complaint.
According to court records, a search of the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia and a bindle containing suspected heroin in the driver’s side door. She admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana, and admitted she had done heroin about 10 hours earlier.
