Court news: Lake Park man ordered to pay $20,000 restitution in bar assault case

Adam Michael Wolfswinkle, 22, of Lake Park, has been ordered to pay over $20,000 in restitution in Becker County District Court for an assault outside the Lake Park Liquor Store.
Wolfswinkel was sentenced April 28 for felony third-degree assault. A misdemeanor fifth-degree assault charge was dropped in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on Nov. 17, 2019, the victim told a Becker County deputy that he had been at the Lake Park Liquor Store the evening before, and had gotten into an argument with two men about vehicles. One came up to him, put his arm around his shoulders, and told him he should apologize to his friend.
Felony assault, burglary and predatory offender cases also heard in Becker County District Court.

Maengun James Lee Randberg, 22, of Frazee has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct - victim under age 13, and gross misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to court records, on April 21 he approached a girl under the age of 11 who was sleeping in the same house, touching her inappropriately and trying to pull her pants down. The girl stayed awake the rest of the night because she was afraid he would approach her again. She was awake at 5 a.m. when a woman came into the living room, and she told the woman what happened.
Other felony cases handled in Becker County District Court include burglary and violent threats.

Christopher Cory Wiedeman, 39, of West Fargo, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony harassment.
According to court records, on Oct. 12, 2019, a Detroit Lakes police officer spoke to a woman who has an active 50-year harassment restraining order against Wiedeman, issued Oct. 22, 2014.
The woman told the officer that he had shown up at her apartment building and she buzzed him in, thinking it was a friend. Wiedeman said he wanted to talk to her, but she told him she was calling the police and slammed the door shut. Surveillance footage from the apartment building showed Wiedeman was there.

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. A former owner of a Detroit Lakes, Minn., massage parlor has been hit with 22 felony tax charges in Becker County District Court.
Jinlan Li, 62, of rural Hawley, Minn., is charged with six counts of failing to file taxes, 11 counts of failing to pay or collect sales taxes, and five counts of filing false or fraudulent tax returns. She owes more than $119,000 in unpaid income and sales taxes, according to a criminal complaint.
