Watch out for fake taxi driving around Guelph, police say

  KITCHENER Guelph police are looking for someone they say has been driving a fake taxi throughout the city. Officials say the car has been approaching people and possibly compromising their debit cards. Around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, police tweeted that they had received three calls in the last half hour. The car is described as an older black Crown Victoria with a faded ‘Beck Taxi’ sign on the roof. Share:

Beck Taxi calls on province to prioritize cab drivers for coronavirus vaccination

Published Monday, April 12, 2021 1:36PM EDT Beck Taxi is urging the province to immediately prioritize cab drivers for COVID-19 vaccination, noting that they are among the few essential workers who are expected to interact with known positive COVID-19 cases. Speaking to CP24 on Monday morning, Kristine Hubbard, the operations manager for Beck Taxi, said she is constantly getting calls from drivers inquiring about when they will be eligible for a vaccine. “This is a situation where our province and our city are telling people, ‘Don t take public transit if you are sick. Take a taxi.’ And so these are the people who are escorting our most vulnerable members of our community door-to-door,” she said.
