Only one person has been arrested: Nike Haynie faces murder charges in Sherwood s death. But Haynie argues the alleged stabbing was in self-defense, according to court records.

Action called for at Crosby Garrett beck crossing before there is a fatality

Action must be taken at a crossing over an Eden beck before there is a fatality, a parish council clerk has warned. Stuart Sanders, clerk for Crosby Garrett parish council, said the last straw which prompted a call for something to be done came when a van got stuck in the beck near the hamlet recently. We honestly did think ‘they’re looking for a body’,” he said. The driver of the vacated vehicle was eventually located, however, and police said no injuries were reported. However, Mr Saunders fears there will be a fatality at the crossing over Scandal Beck if more is not done to highlight the dangers, with drivers being caught out by the water.

Enter local residents, who have begun to rally around the family and raise funds to support them during this difficult time. The fire extended through multiple floors of the home.  Residents who heard about the fire immediately rushed to help by arranging a drop-off of essential items at the home of local resident Kathleen Perez, who helped spearhead the effort.
