AN INVESTIGATION is underway within a police force to identify how a man was placed into custody and appeared in court for criminal matters that were nothing to do with him. A hearing was due to take place at Poole Magistrates Court on April 28 concerning Farhand Rashidi, 45, also known as Bakhtyar Gazi, in relation to offences of assault and theft in Bournemouth dating back to March 2016. A man, who West Midlands Police were led to believe was Rashidi, appeared by video link from HMP Hewell. This came after the individual was arrested in Coventry on a separate matter and the Police National Computer identified this man to be the defendant who was wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court.
Kai Leonard Little, 23 and of no fixed abode, was jailed for a spate of crimes A MAN has been jailed for eight months for a five-month crime spree which saw him commit a burglary, theft, criminal damage and assault offences. Kai Leonard Little was put behind bars after he pleaded guilty to 11 charges along with two court order breaches. The 23-year-old was not present at the Poole Magistrates’ Court sentencing hearing on April 27 when he was committed to prison for the spate of offending. Following his conviction, prosecutors have made an application for a criminal behaviour order to be issued.
Man has ear bitten off during assault in Weymouth A WEYMOUTH man had part of his ear bitten off and was hit with a metal pole during a reported assault in Littlemoor. Police investigating an alleged assault in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses to come forward – with one man charged. Dorset Police received a report at around 11.45am on Tuesday May 11 of an assault involving two men on Beverley Road. It is reported that the victim – a man aged in his 20s from Weymouth – was hit with a metal pole and had part of his ear bitten off. The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for these serious injuries.
Two men have appeared in court after an alleged machete incident at McDonald s in Bournemouth on Friday May 7 TWO men have appeared in court after an alleged incident involving a machete in McDonald s in Bournemouth town centre. Police were called to the Christchurch Road fast food restaurant at 10.14pm on Friday May 7 to a report of a man with machete. It is claimed that two men were in the restaurant when they were approached by a group of men. An altercation is said to have taken place involving the two groups, before they dispersed and left the area. There were no reports of any injuries sustained.
A MAN is set to appear in court charged with assault by beating a woman. Police said Simon Turner, aged 52, of Blandford allegedly assaulted a woman in her 30s around 3.30pm on February 3 in Bournemouth Road, near Tesco. According to police the woman was turning out of the car park at the store in Blandford when the defendant had to slam his brakes. Police said the defendant chased after the woman in his car. Both drivers left their cars and the defendant allegedly assaulted the woman to the face - causing a cut to her lip. A spokesman from Dorset Police said: A man has been charged and is due to appear in court in connection with an alleged assault in Blandford.
