Concerns over teenagers during summer holidays in Bournemouth

CCTV footage obtained by the Bournemouth Daily Echo shows an individual brandish a machete and swing it in the direction of another person COUNCIL staff have been finding what every parent knows – teenagers can often be tricky to engage with. While providing community-run activities for younger children is generally successful, finding something to divert 14-17 year olds during the summer holidays is proving more difficult. The result has been large groups gathering in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens, at Sandbanks and in some other spots around Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, causing concern for some adults. A council committee heard on Tuesday evening there are worried about some, as young as 12, mixing with older groups, and the potential trouble they could get into with drugs, drinking and anti-social behaviour.

Poole High students receive copies of Happy Sexy Millionaire by Steve Bartlett

Anytech Solutions donated 50 copies of a book by entrepreneur Steven Bartlett to Poole High School. The author of Happy Sexy Millionaire retired at 27 from his social media marketing business Social Chain, which he started at the age of 22 and took public in 2019 with a market valuation of more than £170million. Anytech, owned by Chris Palmer, was one of only 10 businesses chosen to donate the book to local schools. Mr Palmer said: “We want to support as many children as we can in Dorset and enable them to realise their full potential. “The next generation is our future. Steven’s book is a true insight into his journey from university drop-out to starting one of the most successful social media companies in the world.”
