WORKS on the first phase of a £1billion pound town centre regeneration are now underway. The project, for the major revamp of Purfleet-on-Thames, is being delivered by Purfleet Centre Regeneration, a joint venture between Urban Catalyst and Swan Housing Association in association with Thurrock Council. Work has officially started on Phase 1A of the project which will create 61 new two, three and four bedroom homes close to the rail station, helping to address the housing need. The initial phase also includes a new children’s play area and an orchard walk which will reinstate public access to Hollow Woods creating a gateway to the wider masterplan by connecting the new neighbourhood to the future new town centre and wider community spaces.

£75million funding boost revealed for Purfleetâs major revamp plans A MULTI-MILLION pound funding boost has been given to Purfleet-on-Thames to help with the town’s £1billion regeneration master-plan. The town has secured £75million from the Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF) which will help to create thousands of new homes, support jobs in the area and work towards making Purfleet safer, greener and healthier. The new funds from central government will help to deliver necessary infrastructure to unlock 2,850 new homes in the area. As well as new homes, the £1billion regeneration plan will also deliver a new town centre, railway station and a new primary school.
