Puri SP K V Singh briefs cops about matrix escalation system BHUBANESWAR: Puri police have asked its control room staff to send cops to any crime or accident spot within 15 minutes from the time of receiving a distress call. The move is aimed at improving the response time of the police in Puri town and municipality area. The 15-minute deadline was set following allegations that most police control room (PCR) vans often reached the spots late, causing resentment among the locals, especially the complainants. Besides, there was no mechanism to monitor the response of the PCR vans upon receipt of calls at the dial 100 control room or the 5-T call centre.

BHUBANESWAR: The Puri Police have conducted ‘Ama Police’ programme in the district to develop good relation with public. In the programme, police have decided to form Sahi (street) committees in Puri town to stay in touch with the people. Kanwar Vishal Singh, Puri SP, while addressing the police and public interface at Hatishala under Baseli Sahi police station in Puri town said Ama Police programmes will be organised in those areas where abnormal criminal cases are being reported. Stringent action will be taken against criminals under the Zero Tolerance programme, he added. The SP said the police will not give any chance to criminals to commit any crime. “Public should think that police personnel are their friends. Without any fear, they should cooperate with the police to control crime in the district. Anti-Crime Control Drive started by the police will help in this field,” he added.
