MoDOT provides update on Missouri River bridge replacement in Rocheport COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) Work to replace the existing Missouri River bridge is moving forward, and construction could start as soon as this fall. The new bridge will be a design-build project, meaning MoDOT will hire one contracting team to complete the design and construction work under one contract.  Project Director Brandi Baldwin said this will allow the project to stay within or under budget. It will also allow for the design of the bridge and the construction of the bridge to overlap. When we award the project, those two defined teams and their proposals are going to be providing us around a 30% complete set of plans, Baldwin said.

Hallsville man dies after late-night house fire ABC 17 News The Boone County Fire Protection says a 68-year-old Columbia man, Charles D. Tolentino, was killed as a result of a Hallsville house fire on Jan. 5. HALLSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ) Boone County firefighters say a Hallsville man has died after a house fire late Tuesday night. A release from the Boone County Fire Protection District said a man was found unresponsive in a back hallway on the upper level of the residence on 10100 N. Hague Rd. Firefighters did not include the name of the man in the release. Firefighters said Tuesday night that the man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The release said he was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after being taken there.
