BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) â The formal dedication of the Lock Tender statues took place Saturday in Lockport.
The life sized bronze sculptures are part of a new monument from a photograph that was taken 124 years ago.
The Lockport Locks are a major tourist attraction in Niagara County, as people remember the crucial role the Erie Canal and the locks had on our history and growth here in Western New York.

The statues are based on an iconic photo taken in 1897 of 12 lock tenders and a girl sitting by the locks. Officials say it's a great part of the city's history.
