Niagara County Encourages Purple Heart Veterans to Come Forward

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski today said Niagara County will once again honor Purple Heart Veterans by adding their name to county’s Book of Honor at a ceremony to be held on August 7. The county is asking any Purple Heart Veterans or their family members who have not yet come forward to please do so by June 11 in order to be part of this year’s ceremony.
“Niagara County is proud of our distinction as an official Purple Heart County as we are committed to the preserving the legacy of brave military personnel who were wounded fighting for our country,” said Jastrzemski. “After our initial ceremony in 2019, we were made ware of additional Purple Heart veterans who we intended to honor last year. But that event was cancelled due the pandemic. So we are excited for this year’s event and want to do all we can to ensure every single Purple Heart Veteran from Niagara Coun
Two Indicted in Death of Lockport Teenager

Niagara County District Attorney Brian Seaman announced that two Adolescent Offenders, as well as an adult, Jonathan Frey, were arraigned today on an Indictment in Niagara County Youth Part by the Honorable Diane Vitello. The defendants were charged in relation to the October 17, 2020 shooting in Lockport that resulted in injuries to five young people and the death of Cheyenne Farewell.
Each of the two youths were charged with Murder in the Second Degree, multiple counts of Assault in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon charges.
