The signage has been installed along Coutts Dr and Mount Low Pkwy to alert drivers to the presence of wallabies and other wildlife in the area. Community Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability chairperson Maurie Soars said it was important for motorists to be aware of wildlife. “We’re lucky in Townsville to have a vast array of beautiful animals living in our suburbs, but we also need to be vigilant and drive carefully in areas where wildlife is prevalent,” Cr Soars said.

Unlawful use of a motor vehicle charges, Currajong

A man and three women arrested after allegedly stealing a utility. Around 11.20pm last night police patrolling in Currajong observed an allegedly stolen Mitsubishi Triton utility travelling along Bayswater Road. Officers were able to successfully deploy a tyre deflation device causing the ute to stop. The four occupants then fled the vehicle and were taken into custody a short time later. Two women, aged 22, and a 26-year-old man have been charged with a range of offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle. The man has also been charged with a possessing a knife in a public place, obstruct police, stealing, fail to take reasonable care of syringe and possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence. He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today.

Date Time Police seek help to find missing man at Charters Towers 30 April Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a 64-year-old man reported missing from Charters Towers. Malcolm McKell was last sighted driving a white 2007 Holden Rodeo with Queensland registration 352AN7 (similar to the one pictured) through the town around 1pm yesterday (April 29) afternoon. Police and family hold concern for Malcolm’s welfare as he has not returned to his Bushland Beach home or contacted family which is out of character. He is described as Caucasian, around 170cm in height, is of a proportionate build, has short grey hair with a grey goatee.
