Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a man shot after he allegedly tried to break into a Topaz Ranch Estates home around 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday.
At 6:45 a.m., deputies reported the man had succumbed to his wounds.
According to initial reports, the man tried to come through the sliding glass door and the home’s occupant shot him.
The shooting occurred right around 6:10 a.m. at an address in the 1500 block of Topaz Ranch Drive.
Residents called in earlier to report that someone was banging on the windows trying to get inside.
A few minutes later they reported the man entered the house and the resident shot him multiple times with a .45 caliber handgun.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - For the second day in a row, the Douglas County Sheriff s Office (DCSO) has responded to a call of a person entering a home uninvited and being shot by a homeowner.
At approximately 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, DCSO deputies responded to a report of trespassing and a man shot in a Topaz Ranch Estates home in Wellington, Nevada. The trespasser was pronounced deceased at 6:45 a.m. DCSO is currently investigating the incident in the 1500 block of Topaz Ranch Road.
Then on May 5 at approximately 4:02 a.m., DCSO responded to the area of Alicia Circle in Gardnerville for occupants reporting an unknown subject entered their residence without permission. The homeowner confronted the subject and discharged a firearm striking the subject once. The subject, who was later identified as Christian Gorham, was detained by the homeowner until DCSO arrived. For the second morning in a row, a reported intruder was shot by a resident, this time in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
The alleged intruder was identified as Christian Henessey Gorham, who was taken into custody on April 28 for violating a restraining order and possession of a controlled substance.
After he was released from the medical center he was booked into jail on a burglary charge.
Deputies and medics responded at 4 a.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of Alicia Circle in the Gardnerville Ranchos, where a 23-year-old man was shot in the shoulder.
The man was able to walk out of the home on his own and was transported for treatment at Carson Valley Medical Center.

WELLINGTON, Nev. (AP) Douglas County authorities say a man was fatally shot while allegedly trespassing inside a home in a rural area near Wellington.
The incident occurred at about 6 a.m. Tuesday in Topaz Ranch Estates, the Sheriff s Office said.
