New Pilot will demonstrate a multi-country, federated Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure for land/sea interface use-cases.
10 March 2021: The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is seeking sponsors for a cooperative OGC – IHO Federated Marine SDI Demonstration Pilot.
Responses are due by April 30, 2021.
As recommended by the successful OGC-IHO MSDI Concept Development Study (CDS), and as evidenced by the success of the OGC-IHO collaboration in the OGC-IHO Maritime Limits and Boundaries Pilot, OGC is seeking sponsors to help initiate a full-scale Pilot to demonstrate a multi-country, federated Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) under land/sea interface use-cases. The Pilot will potentially focus on the Arctic, European Coastal Waters, and/or South East Asia, depending on sponsor requirements.

Advancing the Interoperability of Geospatial Intelligence Tradecraft with 3D Modeling, Simulation, and Game Engines
Herndon, Virginia (March 8, 2021) The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), in cooperation with the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), published a technical paper,
, as a means to highlight technology trends that are influencing the convergence of GEOINT and the Modeling, Simulation, and Gaming (MS&G) tradecraft.
The emergence of the geospatially enabled enterprise has opened up new opportunities in the applications of 3D/4D analytics, artificial intelligence/machine learning decision-support systems, and game-engine applications supporting mission rehearsal and virtual training. This technical paper identifies gaps that can be filled through training and education to bridge the divide between communities of practice and spur the evolution of ope

Hamburg deploys oneM2M smart city standards to go greener
Whether one is dealing with a manufacturing plant or a smart city, the architecture of a distributed Internet of Things (IoT) system depends on several design considerations, says Ingo Freise, software architect at
Deutsche Telekom.
One is the ability to combine legacy sub-systems, such as a final-assembly cell, with greenfield deployments such as an image processing system for quality control. Another design consideration relates to the challenge of combining multiple connectivity and data management technologies, with the added complication that these are sourced from multiple vendors.
Deutsche Telekom dealt with such issues when working on the MySMARTLife project in a consortium with the cities of Nantes, Hamburg, and Helsinki. Naturally, our involvement in the project focused on the city of Hamburg.
