Hamid Mir Apologizes to Pakistan Army
Senior journalist and columnist, Hamid Mir, has apologized for his speech against Pakistan Army at a protest rally organized against the attack on journalist Asad Toor last month.
Mir officially tendered the apology before a special committee formed by the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) and the National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad to probe into allegations leveled by the veteran journalist.

He explained to the committee, consisting of former President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Afzal Butt, President RIUJ, Amir Sajjad Syed, and President NPC, Shakeel Anjum, that he did not intend to defame the Pakistan Army but got carried away after speeches from fellow journalists.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is appalled that Hamid Mir, the well-known host of one of Pakistan’s most prestigious TV programmes, has been taken off the air by his TV channel after saying at a protest that those responsible for recent physical attacks on journalists should be identified.
