KOTA BHARU (Feb 22): The Federal Government through the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) is working closely with the Kelantan government to implement various high-impact projects and human capital programmes to generate socio-economic development in Kelantan.
ECERDC chief executive officer Baidzawi Che Mat said it is in line with the national agenda to improve the living standards of the people and eradicate poverty, as Kelantan recorded the highest poverty rate in the ECER and the second highest in Malaysia.
“The review of the Kelantan Poverty Line Income (PLI) limit in 2020 from RM894 to RM2,139, is expected to increase the number of households living in poverty from 18,345 to 50,255, while 16,712 Orang Asli in Kelantan belong to the hardcore poor.

Two mine countermeasures vessels (MCMV) for the Indonesian Navy are being constructed in Lemwerder, Germany by the shipbuilder Abeking & Rasmussen.
A $204 million contract for the 62m-long ships was concluded in January 2019, and a steel-cutting ceremony was held on 26 November 2020. Featuring a non-magnetic steel hull, the MCMV design is based on the
Frankenthal class operated by the German Navy.
Once commissioned, they will allow retirement of the navy’s two
Pulau Rengat-class minehunters built in the Netherlands. These entered service in March 1988, so they are already long in the tooth.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 Internet users are mourning the death of a community dog in Pulau Ubin, Singapore.
The dog called Kopi-O apparently died after being involved in a hit and run incident on Wednesday (February 3).
Kopi-O’s death was shared by Facebook user Terence Tan through a post on a Facebook page.
According to Tan, Kopi-O was NiNi and DuaTao’s offspring and their owner was a man called Ah Di.
