HODGKINS, Ill. (AP) - Suburban Chicago police responding to a call of shots fired at a UPS facility found two people dead in an employee parking lot. In a statement, Hodgkins police say they received the report of shots fired shortly before 1 p.m. Monday. Spokesman Rodney Cummings said when officers arrived, they found two people, a male and a female, unresponsive on the ground. A firearm was recovered near one of the victims. Paramedics at the scene pronounced the two dead. Authorities have identified the two people, one of whom worked for UPS. Cummings says their names won't be released until after next of kin have been told of their deaths.

Oak Park police: Buyer robbed at gunpoint after arranging to purchase gaming console [Pioneer Press Newspapers, Suburban Chicago]
Jan. 5 A Chicago resident who arranged to purchase a video game console from a seller in Oak Park was robbed at gunpoint during the transaction on New Year’s Day, police said.
The buyer had made arrangements to purchase a PlayStation 5 game console in the 100 block of South Taylor in Oak Park, police said.
Upon arriving in Oak Park, the buyer was approached at 9:50 p.m. by a man holding a black handgun, police said. The gunman stole $140 in cash from the buyer and fled the scene, police said.
