San Antonio College was awarded the Aspen Prize on Tuesday and named the top community college in the country, a testament to its demonstrated success in supporting a diverse student body, officials said.
“What this says is that our faculty, staff and students are best in class in the United States, and that San Antonio, Bexar County and our region have the best community college in our nation,” said Mike Flores, chancellor of the Alamo Colleges District.
West Kentucky Community and Technical College wins

PADUCAH, Ky. (KFVS) - The West Kentucky Community and Technical College won Finalist with Distinction from the Aspen Institute College of Excellence Program.
The college will receive $100,000.
San Antonio College won the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and will receive $1 million.
The Aspen Institute College of Excellence Program announced the winners on Tuesday, May 18.
This was WKCTC’s fifth time as an Aspen Prize finalist. The college previously won Finalist with Distinction in 2011 and 2015.

Florida Department of Health Provides Week 21 Updates on Florida’s Vaccination Efforts Under Governor DeSantis’ Leadership
~Over 9 million Floridians have been vaccinated~
The Florida Department of Health issued an update on the progress of the state s vaccination efforts, as well as its weekly COVID-19 update. The State of Florida is in its twenty-first week of vaccine distribution and is continuing to increase vaccine access statewide.
As of today, at 7 a.m., 9,149,171 individuals have been vaccinated for COVID-19 in Florida; 3,724,743 million are seniors ages 65 and older.
The one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine is now available at an additional 11 state-supported vaccination sites in Broward, Hillsborough, Duval, Miami-Dade, Osceola and Palm Beach counties. A total of 14 state-supported vaccination sites statewide now offer the Johnson and Johnson vaccine for all individuals ages 18 and older.
