(WBTV) - The Concord community has been wrapping their arms around each other since Police Officer Jason Shuping was killed in the line of duty. They are finding any way possible to assist the family of the fallen officer. The outpouring of support for the Concord Police Department continued Saturday. Dozens of people came out to downtown Concord Saturday evening to walk and run in memory of Shuping, who was killed while responding to a call off Bruton Smith Boulevard.

Updated December 17, 2020 9:21 a.m. EST By WCNC Charlotte Concord, N.C. A Concord police officer was killed and a second officer was injured in a shooting Wednesday night, WCNC Charlotte reports. According to police, the 25-year-old officer and an armed suspect were shot around 11 p.m. about a mile from the Charlotte Motor Speedway. A second police officer was also shot and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. During a Thursday morning press conference, Concord Police Chief Gary Gacek said officers originally responded to a call about a car crash on Bruton Smith Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found an abandoned vehicle.
