Concord, N.C. A Concord police officer was killed and a second officer was injured in a shooting Wednesday night, WCNC Charlotte reports.
According to police, the 25-year-old officer and an armed suspect were shot around 11 p.m. about a mile from the Charlotte Motor Speedway. A second police officer was also shot and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
During a Thursday morning press conference, Concord Police Chief Gary Gacek said officers originally responded to a call about a car crash on Bruton Smith Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found an abandoned vehicle.

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. Police in Gaston County, North Carolina arrested charged a man with murder after investigators said he shot and killed a police officer during a break-in in Mount Holly Friday morning.
Authorities say Officer Tyler Avery Herndon, 25, was shot and killed while responding to the active break-in at the Mount Holly Car Wash just before 3:30 a.m. Friday.
