PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) Police said at least four gatherings of demonstrators and protesters were planned for Inauguration Day in Portland.
By Wednesday afternoon, one group that gathered at Revolution Hall and marched toward the Burnside Bridge had already shown “aggression” toward police, including swarming and throwing objects at officers, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
A PPB spokesman stated that officers on bicycles entered the crowd of 100 to 150 people to contact at least one person with a weapon, and remove metal poles from a banner so that they couldn’t be used as weapons.
At least one knife was seized by an officer from a protester. Police said a bicycle was also taken away from an officer by people in the crowd.

PORTLAND, Ore. The Portland Police Bureau declared an unlawful assembly Wednesday night after about 150 rioters caused damage to a federal immigration facility in the city, according to the authorities.
The unrest near the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building was declared after rioters started throwing rocks and eggs, and vandalizing the building, located in the city’s south waterfront neighborhood, Portland police Sgt. Kevin Allen said in a 10 p.m. update.
“We have observed property damage to the building,” the Portland Police Bureau wrote on Twitter. “Anyone who is involved in criminal behavior including: vandalism and graffitting is subject to arrest or citation.”

At least eight people were arrested by the police in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, 20 January, after rioters damaged both federal and private property, abcNews reports.
Dozens of protesters took to the streets of Oregon’s largest city following the inauguration of President Joe Biden. Some people were seen carrying Black Lives Matter signs, while others held banners with anti-Biden or anti-police slogans.
Although the demonstrations were largely peaceful, two protest events resulted in property damage and arrests, according to the Portland Police Bureau Thursday, 21 January.
”A crowd of about 150 people gathered at Revolution Hall, a music venue in southeast Portland, and marched to the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Oregon on Wednesday afternoon. Some individuals vandalized the building with graffiti and smashed windows, while others moved dumpsters into the middle of the street and lit the contents on fire, police said.
