Storm Lake Man Arrested For Alleged Sexual Abuse Of A Child

The Storm Lake Police Department arrested a resident on Friday after receiving belated notification on the sexual assault of a child. After conducting an initial investigation, police allege that approximately one month ago, 29-year-old Hector Victor had sexual contact with a child under the age of 14. Victor was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Buena Vista County jail where he was booked on charges of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony, and incest, a class D felony. As of Monday morning, Victor remained in custody on a $10,000 bond. The Iowa Department of Human Services assisted with the investigation.

Extensive Fire, Heat And Smoke Damage Reported In Storm Lake House Fire Tuesday

Residents of a Storm Lake home escaped without injury as fire destroyed a bedroom while the rest sustained heavy smoke and heat damage. The Storm Lake Fire Department was dispatched to South Windsor Circle at approximately 4:28 p.m. Tuesday. The occupants were evacuating the residence at that time. Upon arrival, firefighters found large flames venting through windows on the southeast corner of the structure. They entered and extinguished the fire in a back bedroom. They remained on scene for approximately an hour and half and were assisted by the Storm Lake Police Department, Buena Vista County Emergency Medical Services and the Siouxland Chapter of the American Red Cross. An investigation into the cause has determined it started because of an overheated power strip that apparently failed. Damage to the residence is estimated at $50,000.

The Storm Lake Police Department says the package contained marijuana products sent from California. Police contacted the alleged recipient of the package identified as 21-year-old Christopher Ramirez of Lancaster, California, and took him into custody without incident. Ramirez was taken to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was booked and held on a $5,000 bond. Police charged him with a controlled substance violation.

The Storm Lake Police Department reports a Buena Vista University (BVU) student was taken into custody Tuesday after a package containing marijuana products was intercepted by campus security. Authorities say the package was originally mailed from California and was addressed to 21-year-old Christopher Ramirez of Lancaster, Calif. Officers made contact with Ramirez Tuesday, and he was arrested without incident. He was booked into the Buena Vista County jail for controlled substance violations, a class D felony.
