Storm Lake Firefighters Respond To House Fire On South Windsor Circle

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) Storm Lake Firefighters arrived at the scene of a fire located at 30 South Windsor Circle Tuesday afternoon.
The Storm Lake Fire Department says they responded to the scene after receiving a report of a house fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed flames venting through the windows at the southeast corner of the home. Upon entering the residence, they extinguished a fire burning in a back bedroom.
The bedroom was completely destroyed in the fire, there was extreme heat and smoke damage throughout the residence. No injuries were reported.
Residents of a Storm Lake home escaped without injury as fire destroyed a bedroom while the rest sustained heavy smoke and heat damage. The Storm Lake Fire Department was dispatched to South Windsor Circle at approximately 4:28 p.m. Tuesday. The occupants were evacuating the residence at that time. Upon arrival, firefighters found large flames venting through windows on the southeast corner of the structure. They entered and extinguished the fire in a back bedroom. They remained on scene for approximately an hour and half and were assisted by the Storm Lake Police Department, Buena Vista County Emergency Medical Services and the Siouxland Chapter of the American Red Cross. An investigation into the cause has determined it started because of an overheated power strip that apparently failed. Damage to the residence is estimated at $50,000.

Storm Lake Truck Fire Damages Two Vehicles

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) A pickup truck fire damaged two other vehicles on Wednesday in Storm Lake.
The Storm Lake Fire Department says it was dispatched to the Gingerbread house, located at 525 Oates Street, upon receiving a report of the fire in the parking lot.
Upon arrival, firefighters say they found the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup owned by Brandy Hadley of Newell fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished without incident and estimated to be a total loss. Two other vehicles parked close to the vehicle received varying amounts of damage. One a Chevrolet Equinox is believed to be a total loss, and a Toyota Highlander was estimated at $4,000 in damage.
