Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kumar on Saturday issued an order in this regard which would be implemented from Monday. Relaxation of the earlier Covid protocol would allow restaurants to serve peoples till 4pm from Monday to Friday while on Saturday and Sunday only takeaway service would be available. Essential commodity shops will be functional all days till 4pm including weekends. However Non-essential category shops will be allowed to be open till 4 pm from Monday to Friday but not on weekends.

In a clear sign of a receding COVID second wave, Pune district reported 48 fatalities on Friday, its lowest single day count in two months. That takes the COVID death tally in the district to 17,090, informed district health officials. As many as 1,468 fresh COVID cases were reported in the district on Friday, with the cumulative caseload in the district standing at 10,20,496. While active cases declined to 19,638, some 11,045 out of those are in hospital isolation and 8,593 are in home isolation.
