Stolen construction vehicles, equipment recovered from Northeast Cape Fear River

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - Two work trucks, two trailers, and two mini excavators that were stolen from a Castle Hayne construction company were recovered near a Northeast Cape Fear River boat ramp on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the sheriffâs office said the agency received a report from Ansco & Associates that the construction equipment were stolen early Wednesday morning from their location on Crowatan Road.

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The New Hanover County Sheriffâs Office is mourning the passing of K-9 Jango last week.
According to a Facebook post, sheriffâs office officials say Jango was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma cancer in December and still managed to work until February.
Jango, nicknamed âSure Thingâ due to reliably sniffing out narcotics, was an active member of the sheriffâs office K-9 Unit with his handler Sgt. Stegall for over ten years.

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A Wilmington man who was released from prison last month after spending over eight years behind bars for a 2013 shooting has been arrested again.
According to a news release, Tyzheem Nixon, 25, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Thursday for an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.
Officials say he was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana less than 1/2 ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and interference with electronic monitoring device. Nixon was booked in the New Hanover County Jail under no bond.
