Funeral services were held on Tuesday in Leesville for New Llano Police Chief Danny Hunt. He passed away on Friday in an Alexandria hospital. A native of New Llano and a 1977 graduate of Leesville High School, Hunt had a lengthy law enforcement career which included stints with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department and the Leesville Police Department. Additionally, Hunt was a firearms instructor, Louisiana Hunter Safety Course Instructor, and had also been a DARE officer. He was also the West CenLa Shrine Club President for many years, a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #240, and a board member of Vernon Action Council of Leesville.
