By News Editor And Partners • 4 hours ago    Roswell, NM- On April 15, 2021, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was contacted to investigate a police shooting involving the Roswell Police Department (RPD) and the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). State Police Investigations Bureau agents learned that on April 15, 2021, at approximately 11:26 p.m., a sergeant with CCSO attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a white Ford pick-up truck on Mathews Street and South Main Street in Roswell. The vehicle fled and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.  The driver, later identified as Victor Ivan Barron (22) of Roswell, traveled west on Mathews Street to Pennsylvania. During the pursuit, CCSO requested the assistance of RPD. RPD deployed tire deflation devices at Union Avenue and Country Club Road. Barron traveled east on Main Street. By New Mexico State Police • 3 hours ago Credit New Mexico State Police HOBBS - On Thursday, April 15, 2021, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was called to investigate an Officer Involved Shooting near 537 East Navajo Drive in Hobbs, NM involving the New Mexico State Police. The State Police officer was uninjured, and the suspect fled on foot. Agents learned that on April 15, 2021, at around 8:20 p.m., New Mexico State Police Officer Hector Baca was on patrol in Hobbs.  He initiated a traffic stop on a Chrysler passenger vehicle on East Navajo Drive for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, a male passenger, later identified as Victor Ruben Ignacio Flores, 27, of Hobbs, fled on foot.  Officer Baca gave chase and a foot pursuit ensued.

By News Editor And Partners • 2 hours ago    Hobbs, NM- On Thursday, April 15, 2021 the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was called to investigate an Officer Involved Shooting near 537 East Navajo Drive in Hobbs, New Mexico. The NMSP officer was uninjured, and the suspect fled on foot. Agents learned at approximately 8:20 p.m., a New Mexico State Police officer initiated a traffic stop on a silver Chrysler four-door passenger vehicle on East Navajo Drive in Hobbs. During the traffic stop, a male passenger fled on foot. The officer gave chase. At some point during the foot pursuit, the male suspect brandished a firearm and fired at the officer. The officer fired at least one round from his department issued sidearm towards the male suspect.

Two Roswell officers and a Chaves County deputy opened fire on a man Thursday night during a foot chase in Roswell, according to New Mexico State Police. State Police spokesman Mark Soriano said Victor Barron, 22, was killed in the incident. No deputies or officers were injured. He said around 11:30 p.m. a Chaves County Sheriff’s Office sergeant tried to pull over Barron near Matthews and Main. Barron fled the traffic stop in a pickup truck. Soriano said Roswell police used spike strips on the truck and Barron got out of the truck and a “short foot pursuit” began.
