PERRY TWP. – State police still have not released any information on suspects in the early Tuesday shooting along Mercer Road that left one man hospitalized.
Police said 18-year-old NyaSanu Greene II of New Brighton was found around 1:20 a.m. inside an SUV that had been shot numerous times outside a home near Cut Off Street. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he last was listed in critical condition with several gunshot wounds.
Greene was a standout running back and outside linebacker for the New Brighton High School football team. He earned a spot on the Times 22 Football All-Star team last fall, after rushing for over 700 yards and nine touchdowns.

Student of the Month: New Brighton Rotary Club

NEW BRIGHTON Makayla Parkes, a senior at New Brighton High School, was named Student of the Month for May by the New Brighton Rotary Club.
Parkes has been a member of Interact for three years, was a Lioness for two years and a member of the Ushers Club for one. She played track and field and participated in the musical for two years and currently cheers.
Parkes is the daughter of Crystal Parkes of New Brighton and plans to attend college and pursue a career in nursing after graduation.

NEW BRIGHTON Bethany Krut, a senior at New Brighton High School, was named Student of the Month for April by the New Brighton Rotary Club.
Krut has played volleyball since 2015 and has been named a Section 2A All-Star for the sport. She participated in marching band for three years and track and field and cheerleading for one.
Krut is the daughter of Gregory and Antoinette Krut of New Brighton and plans to attend college and pursue a career in athletic training after graduation.
