Neighbor stole child’s therapy dog, dumped it along N.J. road: police

A Delaware family’s therapy dog was stolen by their neighbor and found dumped in Pennsville early last month, police alleged.
Cynthia Yalisove, 63, of Hockessin, Del., was charged on May 14 by New Castle County Division of Police with one count of felony theft, and additional charges for animal cruelty were also drafted by Pennsville Police Department, the New Castle County Division of Police announced Tuesday.
Officers were called to Hockessin’s home on April 6 for a report of theft and were told by the family that their 6-month-old Pyredoodle had gone missing the day before, police said. The animal was a therapy dog for the family’s child. The family had searched throughout the night for the dog and reported it missing through social media, police said.
‘Who does this?’
The night Rip went missing, Aman posted on Facebook about his disappearance. Quickly, family, friends and strangers shared the post, hoping someone would recognize the dog.
The call came sooner than Aman expected. Less than 24 hours later, Aman heard from a woman who said she had the dog.
“Hi, I don’t want to get your hopes up, but I think it’s him,” Aman recalled the woman saying. “We rescued him in Pennsville, New Jersey, and this is gonna sound crazy, but I work in Delaware and a friend showed me your social media post.”
After sending photos of the dog, Aman confirmed it was Rip. Then, she inquired as to how the puppy got to another state, 20 miles away.

Two people are dead following a domestic-related shooting in a Bear development Friday morning, New Castle County police said.
First responders were called to the 700 block of Mill Creek Court, in the Victoria Woods development, just after midnight after receiving a 911 call about a domestic incident involving a weapon, police said.
On the scene, officers found a 43-year-old woman shot multiple times and an 80-year-old man with a single gunshot wound. Police have not said how the two were related.

Family files lawsuit over fatal police shooting of Delaware man who was found resting in a rental car

An image from the bodycam footage released by New Castle County Police (CNN)The family of a Black man fatally shot by Delaware police officers after he was found resting in his rental car earlier this year filed a lawsuit Thursday alleging the officers used excessive and deadly force and they are demanding a trial by jury.
Lymond Moses was fatally shot by New Castle County Police (NCCP) on January 13, 2021, in Wilmington, Delaware, according to the complaint, shortly after 1 a.m. when they came upon him resting in his car. The lawsuit names New Castle County, New Castle County Department of Public Safety, the New Castle County Police Department and the three officers involved in the incident.
