Pension Committee during its Jan. 20 meeting came out
of executive session to approve a new disability pension for John Aniello, according to meeting minutes. The New Canaan firefighter last year sued the town claiming that higher-ups for years ignored abuse by a superior. Aniello’s employment with the town ended Jan. 31, officials have said.

Patricia Wilson Scott passed away peacefully on Sept. 26, 2016, in Naples, Fla. She was 84.
Patty will be remembered by her friends and family for her genuine interest in other people, her sense of optimism and fairness, her wonderful laugh and sense of humor, her passion for racquet sports, international travel, entertaining, and her love of her extended family.
Born to Fredrick and Ruth Wilson in Bronxville, New York on Feb. 1, 1932, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John M. Scott, and first husband, Stanley R. Westberg. She was the granddaughter of Jacob Sechler Coxey of Massillon, Ohio.
Patty was a resident of Naples, Fla. since 1985, Chagrin Falls, Ohio since 1963 and Darien since 1938. She graduated from Greenwich Academy in 1949 and Mount Holyoke College in 1953, where she majored in political science. Patricia was also a 1954 graduate of Katherine Gibbs School in New York City.
The collaborative series “Resilience” continues Saturday, April 24, with a presentation of the Library’s first-ever virtual Community Conference. The conference is aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of climate change and what scientists are doing to solve this complex problem. For nearly 125 years, Black cinema has served as an avenue for creative expression, cultural affirmation, and a reimagining of what freedom really means in America. Yet, the separate-and-unequal attention Hollywood pays to Black cinema has left most moviegoers largely unaware of its rich tradition. New Canaan Library welcomes Professor Artel Great, who will present an in-depth discussion of Black cinema as part of the Library’s Movements in Cinema series.
