View Comments Two people are facing multiple charges after the New Iberia Police Department said they robbed and beat a person with disabilities.  Investigators allege Rijhanelle Flugence and Joseph Roberts Jr. robbed and severely beat a person who is disabled, causing further permanent damage to the victim, on April 25 at the intersection of Corrine and Field streets, Sgt. Daesha Hughes said in a release.  Flugence and Roberts were charged with attempted first-degree murder and second-degree robbery. Flugence was additionally charged with cruelty to the infirm, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule II drugs and self-mutilation.  Both were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail, Hughes said. 

New Iberia Police arrest suspect for molestation of a juvenile

New Iberia man accused of molestation of a juvenile and last updated 2021-04-06 20:19:52-04 NEW IBERIA, La. — The New Iberia Police Department have arrested a man they say is accused of inappropriately touching a juvenile. According to an arrest report, NIPD was called to the 2500 block of West Old Spanish Trail on March 22 in reference to locating a suspected runaway juvenile. When police located the juvenile, they say she told police that inappropriate sexual behavior had occurred between herself and a family member. Police say the suspect, Amadee Delcambre, 56, voluntarily came in to be interviewed by NIPD where he admitted to touching a juvenile inappropriately.

New Iberia man arrested after fleeing from U.S. Marshals serving warrant New Iberia Police Department and last updated 2021-03-31 22:02:42-04 NEW IBERIA, La. — A New Iberia man has been arrested after fleeing from U.S. Marshals serving a warrant that led to a vehicle pursuit through St. Martinville. According to the New Iberia Police Department, U.S. Marshals were serving an arrest warrant Wednesday on Lee Street for Donvontae Ozenne, who was wanted for a previous charge of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. Police say when the marshals attempted to serve the warrant, Ozenne fled in a vehicle through New Iberia, which then led them through St. Martinville.
