Two people are facing multiple charges after the New Iberia Police Department said they robbed and beat a person with disabilities.
Investigators allege Rijhanelle Flugence and Joseph Roberts Jr. robbed and severely beat a person who is disabled, causing further permanent damage to the victim, on April 25 at the intersection of Corrine and Field streets, Sgt. Daesha Hughes said in a release.
Flugence and Roberts were charged with attempted first-degree murder and second-degree robbery. Flugence was additionally charged with cruelty to the infirm, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule II drugs and self-mutilation.
Both were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail, Hughes said.
