Sarah Townsend The developer has appointed Newry Construction as main contractor and intends to complete the 488-bed student scheme in Liverpool in time for the start of the September academic year. Work will officially restart on the London Road project in the coming fortnight, following a spate of delays related to the previous developer Pinnacle Student Developments Liverpool going bust in 2018 and, later, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Liverpool-based Elliot Group acquired Paramount from Pinnacle’s administrators in July 2019 and set about finalising delivery of the 488-bed student accommodation scheme whose construction began in 2014. Pinnacle had planned to deliver a scheme to house 488 students, together with 150 underground car parking spaces and several ground floor commercial units.

Place North West | Elliot Group s £70m Epic Hotel in receivership

Dan Whelan LPA receiver David Currie & Co is seeking cash offers for the stalled development, a 306-bedroom hotel in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle.  The company was appointed earlier this month to recover a charge lodged by Virtuoso Investments, a company based in the Seychelles that had invested in the scheme.  Work to build the 16-storey hotel Norfolk Street was being carried out by Newry Construction. However, it stalled last year after investors backed out following the arrest of Elliot Group founder Elliot Lawless in December 2019. Lawless was subsequently released on bail, which expired in March, and no charges have been brought.

Sarah Townsend Fit-out of Caro Developments’ 127-apartment rental scheme in Liverpool has begun and the project is expected to complete in the coming weeks, the developer said. The £14.5m Poet’s Place is on Great Homer Street, the northern gateway into Liverpool city centre. Once complete, it will offer a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom homes with under-croft parking. The development is next to the £150m Project Jennifer regeneration project, which includes a Sainsbury’s superstore and district retail centre opposite the 100-acre Everton Park. Caro director Steve Smith said: “Our research shows that people want the convenience of a well-located and well-connected home, but without the downsides of noise, expensive parking and congestion.
