A viable, exploded pipe bomb type device has been recovered in Newry, County Down.
The security alert on Ashgrove Road is now over and residents have been allowed to return to their homes.
The road has re-opened after having been closed in both directions.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said there have been no reports of any injuries or damage to property and they have taken the remnants of the device away for forensic tests.

Insp Paddy Heatley said the alert followed a report of a loud bang at about 00:40 BST on Thursday.
