LOS ANGELES Michael Avenatti, the former lawyer for AVN Hall of Famer Stormy Daniels in her multiple lawsuits against Donald Trump, was convicted last year of attempted extortion against the Nike Corporation, and of other financial crimes against Daniels and other clients. As of Tuesday, he is now an accused plagiarist as well.
In another development in Avenatti’s case this week, prosecutors accused Avenatti of deliberately delaying his receipt of the COVID-19 vaccine, in order to keep himself from returning to jail in New York City. Avenatti has been under home confinement at the residence of a friend, Jay Manheimer, in Venice, California, since April of last year. At that time, he was released from a federal jail in Manhattan due to COVID risks.

LOS ANGELES Last week, the former lawyer for AVN Hall of Famer Stormy Daniels, Michael Avenatti, asked a judge to delay the start of his California trial on fraud charges so that he could focus on preparations for his trial on charges that he swindled Daniels out of nearly $300,000. Instead, his trial in the Daniels case was pushed back, into next year.
Avenatti was previously scheduled to face the Daniels-related charges in court on April 26. But last Friday, federal Southern District of New York Judge Jesse Furman issued a ruling delaying that trail date to January 10, 2022, according to a report by The Associated Press. Furman, however, said that the 2022 date was “firm.”

LOS ANGELES Michael Avenatti, the disgraced former lawyer for AVN Hall of Famer Stormy Daniels, faces a trial on fraud charges set to start on February 23. But now, Avenatti wants to delay that trial because he says he needs to focus instead on his trial for allegedly swindling Daniels out of nearly $300,000.
Avenatti has already faced trial and been convicted on charges that he attempted to extort the Nike shoe corporation out of $20 million. Though he remains under house arrest at the home of a friend in Venice, Calif., Avenatti is scheduled to return to New York for sentencing in the Nike case on February 17.
