Miya Ponsetto release: Woman who attacked and falsely accused Black musician s son granted supervised release CNN 1/11/2021 By Sheena Jones and Dakin Andone, CNN © Ventura County Sheriffís Office Authorities in California have arrested the woman allegedly involved in an incident in which a jazz musician said his 14-year-old son was attacked by a woman who falsely accused him of taking her iPhone. Miya Ponsetto, 22, was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop near her home in Piru, located in Ventura County, the Ventura County Sheriffís Office said in a news release. Authorities say she was arrested for a fugitive warrant in connection with a recent assault at a New York City hotel. She was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura, and is being held without bail, the sheriffís office said. Woman who falsely accused Black teen of stealing phone tells Gayle King enough 02:15 (CNN)A woman charged with attempting to assault a 14-year-old and falsely accusing him of stealing her cell phone has been granted supervised release after her arrest and extradition to New York, a spokeswoman for the Manhattan District Attorney s Office told CNN. Miya Ponsetto, 22, of Piru, California, was arraigned Saturday evening on charges of attempted assault, endangering the welfare of a child, attempted robbery and attempted grand larceny, according to charging documents. None of the charges is eligible for monetary bail, Manhattan DA spokeswoman Naomi Puzzello told CNN. The judge also granted orders of protection for the victims.
